Overview > Day 1 to Noosa > Day 2 to Gold Coast > Day 3 to Coffs >
Day 4 in Coffs > Day 5 to Port > Day 6 to Kiama
Driving conditions: We travelled at the designated speed limit – mostly 110 kmh on the highway – using Cruise Control (no re-gen) and with the Air Conditioning on all the way! |
With an estimated range of 183 km on the screen (44% State of Charge), and a journey of 325 km ahead, we are off to find a charging station on the Gold Coast
PlugShare advises that the Australia Fair shopping centre, about 5km from our accomodation, has two CCS outlets available, from a provider called Elanga. We are not familiar with Elanga, so we download their app and setup an account before leaving our accommodation.
We wind our way through Australia Fair’s multi-storey car park to Level 4, as advised by PlugShare. Given that it is raining lightly outside, we are thankful for the under-cover location.
After 20 mins, albeit at only 25kW, our charge has increased to 80%, providing an estimated range of around 360 kms, which will be cutting it fine if we go all the way to Coffs without another top up – but we have Tyndale on our radar for that top up. (Time: 45 mins. Cost: 28.547 kWh @ 58c/kWh = $16.62)
We arrive at Tyndale’s 350kW Evie charger, with 22% SoC and 188 km remaining on the clock, but charging at rates up to 85kW it only takes a short time to bump us back up to 80% SoC (which is our ‘healthy battery’ limit), and an estimated 341 km driving range to cover the 100 km drive to Coffs. (Time: 40 mins – Cost: 44.23 kWh @ 73c/kWh = $32.29)
A couple of hours back on the road, and we arrive in Coffs Harbour with 55% charge, with an estimated remaining range of 188 km….
